Where and when does HEofS meet?We meet every Monday from 9:00-11:00 at a park location in Surprise. Please contact us for the current location. Park Days begin after Labor Day and wrap up for the summer around Memorial Day. For more information, please email us at info@homeeducatorsofsurprise.com.

What happens at Park Day?On park day, parents congregate to socialize and encourage one another. Announcements are made and any payments that are due for field trips/events can be paid by cash or check. Kids can play on the playground or coordinate their own games in the grassy areas nearby.

What activities can I expect from HEofS?As a social homeschool group, we strive to offer our members as many opportunities as possible to enrich our homeschool journeys. Activities and events vary from year to year. The amount of activities during the year will depend on member involvement and volunteers. We have weekly park days from September to May. Annually, we have a Hoedown at the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Scripps National Spelling Bee, Holiday Parties (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter), & Annual Kick Off Meeting. We also have geography/history, science, art & poetry fairs and talent shows throughout the year that provide students the opportunity to practice their public speaking skills. Twice yearly we have food and craft made markets that give the kids a chance to experience the benefits of entrepreneurship. We have educational field trips (often at least twice a month) that vary in interests and price. Some past trips included fire station tours, zoos & aquariums, theater productions, farms and dairies, ice skating, botanical gardens, and various museums. We offer fun activities too, including indoor climbing & jump places, art projects, and bowling. We also have camping trips and a tween and teen group.

That's a lot of activities! Do we have to participate in all of them?Absolutley not! We just strive to offer our members a wide variety of options for their families. It's up to you to pick and choose what works for yours!

How much does it cost to become a member of HEofS?Our yearly membership fee is $60. The year follows a traditional school year from September to May. You may join at anytime throughout the year for $60.

As a member of HEofS, what does that include? After you fill out a registration packet and have paid your $60, you can now participate in any and all group events! You will be added to our list of Evites that go out for any field trips or events we have planned, weekly email announcements, as well as being added to our "secret" HEofS facebook page to receive any updates, field trip info, and encouragement from other families on the same homeschool journey! We also offer a school quality 9x13 hardcover yearbook that includes grade pictures, family pages and pictures submitted by our members from all our field trips and events. This is an additional cost, but well worth it to document your homeschool journey!

Did you know we offer a yearbook?Home Educators of Surprise offers a school quality 9x13 hardcover yearbook every year. We have many different types of pages: students by grade, family pages and pictures submitted by our members from all our field trips and park day events, graduation pages, extracurricular activities, and much more. We also have a professional photographer that comes to the park to take student pictures for our yearbook. Purchasing these pictures is optional, however, all student pictures will be in the yearbook regardless of whether they are purchased or not. This is an additional cost, but well worth it to document your homeschool journey!
